Workshop educators Mark Robertson and Jameson McKenzie of One Vision Productions are joined by a range of specialist practitioners to facilitate the Mindful Self Mastery unit. Although based on the latest PDHPE NSW Syllabus, it can also be used to support any well-being course in Australian schools. This ten-week online unit takes a practical and experiential approach to teaching the connection between physical and mental health so that students can build the resilience, motivation and persistence needed to strengthen personal identity, manage life’s stressors, and respond positively to future challenges. Students learn and practice the self-management skills needed to build and maintain mental fitness, and practice mindfulness techniques taught by some of Australia’s most respected fitness, dance, yoga and meditation teachers. Students reflect on and practice the interpersonal skills needed to navigate complex situations they may face now and into the future. With game-changing educational concepts such as teaching in a circle, the MPOWER classroom acts as a roadmap, connecting youth to themselves, their passions and each other. The series of videos, video prompt cards, mindfulness exercises, lesson plans and resources make this program easy to facilitate for teachers and a dynamic unit of study for students.
The following PDHPE skills are focused on during the unit:
Self-management skills – S
